Hey James, what languages do you know, or what should I learn to help get me into Dev Ops basically? I know Python and SQL, but I have some downtime and I wanted to learn a bit more on Udemy while I can.

Hey there' So honestly I mostly just know Python and SQL myself, but a lot of devops is the surrounding technologies depending on what it is that you end up working on. If you aren't familiar, I recommend building out a little project in python or something, and learning Git if you don't know it already

Sounds like you have a pretty good starting base! If you're decent with code and know git, I would recommend starting to look into different cloud stacks. We (shield and tort) are moving to Google Cloud Platform so that would be a good place to get a lay of the land

Big asterisk on the next part, but I would also recommend trying to learn Docker. We use that within the company and I'm attempting to wrap my head around it now.

Hey @James Turner so what exactly was the point of that meeting? No one told me anything about it and I just got sent the invite, and other than 'upload your code to github' I don't really understand why I was there tbh. I don't like deploy software or anything, most of the code I do is local now since ward and dustin comes screaming bloody murder whenever someone touches lawruler via API so I mostly just manipulate excels and google sheets. So I'm just slightly confused and I know Brittany doesn't know anything code-related basically so i'm asking you lol

SORT of, i'm trying to build something similar to Ryans dashboard (just the look of it) specifically for our monday reports , but I don't think i'm able to with looker studio. Trying to get into that table format with text values - I'm used to PowerBI or Tableau so i'm still learning looker honestly, but i'm starting to think it's a handicap from me using looker studio but idk for sure honestly

only looking at it from a money aspect as it's 24/month and viewers can view reports for free whereas we believe viewers with looker have to have an account and pay 30/month we believe

but ok, so do any of your guys looker dashboards go to the firms for them to view? that's all we're worried about, cuz our dash's would be external for the firms to look at - so if the firms already have a viewer account for looker, then we should already be good but we don't know. I should probably ask ryan huh? edward said he'd have to ask ryan since he does all of that

I'm confused though, isn't looker pulling from BigQuery? so anything i have access to in bigquery i would have access to in looker? I have some financial data access in bigquery but i obviously don't use or look at it, but that's why i'm confused why you had to make a specific board that I can use

for each table in Bigquery, I have to set up a connection from Bigquery to Looker which is called an "explore".

Multiple "Explores" live in a data "Model"

and roles and permissions for what data you can access are are given on a "Model" level.

I gave you access to the "tip_datawarehouse" Model, and the specific explores that will be helpful for you are:

12 - Law Ruler Question And Answer Data 10 - Five9 and Lawruler Data Joined 8 - All Law Ruler Leads With Enrichment

I recommend starting with making a personal folder, building your dashboards there, playing, learning, ect. We can always move the dashboards to a shared folder later

ohhhh, gotcha gotcha, cuz I remember you showing me the explore and all that, are you able to specifically give me access to the tables in 'lrdata' and 'reportingmonday' and 'reportingsandbox' and 'reportingworkspace' ? idk if it works like that, but those tables in bigquery don't have any financial data in them whatsoever, it's strictly lawruler data but data I might need at some point (this can be done later, doesn't have to be now i know you're kinda swamped)
