good morning @CC Kitanovski I am back from Berlin, unfortunatly I cant make it in to office this week as I need to go to NYC for important business mtgs. I will however, send a calendar invite for us to connect on a google call today. I saw your email and have it saved to review shortly

@Cameron Rentch Hi Cameron. I emailed the completed sections for the NEC baby formula brief. I have a few questions...

  1. Once I complete the parts of the brief I/we are responsible for, do I send them to you, Nick & Abe, or all three?
  2. Do we have data to calculate how many people actually pursue legal action?
  3. For previous campaigns, how do we (and the investors) measure success? Is it number of sign-ups, financial compensation, etc.? I can try to work those metrics into the math.
  4. In order to calculate ROI for investors, I'd need to understand more about how the settlement is distributed once it is obtained. Any details (or ideas on who to speak to about this) would be greatly appreciated.

good morning @CC Kitanovski thanks for being patient - it's been a hectic week and I just jumped on a flight for mtgs tonight and tomorrow am in NYC. I do have time later and will send a cal invite for 230PST/530EST today!

Cameron Rentch (cameron@internetthings.com)
2025-05-21 10:12:46

to answers some questions:

  1. please send to Nick, Abe and me. They will then add their part (litigation strategy, settlement values.
  2. we do not. rather, we use a combination of potentially affected people then applying the case criteria to determine the approximate amount of cases (TAM, total avail market) in the market
  3. success equals full deployment of allocated budget, "fall out" below predicted amount, CAC (Case Acquisition Cost) does not exceed "cap", solid litigation strategy, all resulting in settlement at or above predicted/assumed values. We can discuss this more.
  4. This is more-so something we ask the litigation firm (IE DiCello) to provide and generally do not provide assumptions on case settlement values I can get a google drive set up with all case criteria for your reference and review as well to help with the TAM assumptions and calculations.

CC Kitanovski (ckitanovski@shield-legal.com)
2025-05-21 13:42:09

TAM, mathematically, is the average revenue per user multiplied by the total potential number of clients. The former, i can't quantify, the latter I can.

CC Kitanovski (ckitanovski@shield-legal.com)
2025-05-21 13:43:30

Nick and I have been brainstorming ways to build a heat map to quantify average revenue per user that is a little bit more accurate than just one giant average. I have a heat map idea.

Cameron Rentch (cameron@internetthings.com)
2025-05-21 13:43:59

The total available market has nothing to do with any revenue. I will talk to you about it. It’s really nothing that involves him at all.

Hi @Cameron Rentch Just wondering if you had the intake criteria for the Riverside & Sacremento juv halls. Riverside brief is done (aside from intake criteria) with a TAM of ~75 expected signed claimants. I don't anticipate intake criteria changing it much. Just wanted to mention it since it was relatively low.

Any thoughts on combining Riverside & Sacramento into one brief? I can leave TAM separate for each facility, but they share much of the same "state of CA" published data

Cameron Rentch (cameron@internetthings.com)
2025-06-09 15:58:47

@CC Kitanovski by example LA county Juv hall yielded 8500 claimants and there are likely another 2000+ that will not qualify. This recently settled. Not sure where you are getting the TAM calculation of 75. My gut tells me there should be 2000-2500 claimants in riverside

CC Kitanovski (ckitanovski@shield-legal.com)
2025-06-09 16:01:44

@Cameron Rentch It might be an intake criteria issue then. This is based on Riverside Juvenile Hall (the specific facility). If the intake criteria includes all facilities in the county, that would definitely change things.

Cameron Rentch (cameron@internetthings.com)
2025-06-09 16:02:21

Yes, it’s everything in the entire Riverside County. I apologize if I was not clear on that.

CC Kitanovski (ckitanovski@shield-legal.com)
2025-06-09 16:03:00

Ah okay, sorry about that. Is it the same for Sacramento? All facilities in the county?

CC Kitanovski (ckitanovski@shield-legal.com)
2025-06-10 16:05:34

@Cameron Rentch I come bearing good news. Riverside County TAM is up to an extremely conservative floor of 1,215 and a ceiling of 7,500... and Sacramento should be a breeze because I already have all the data.

Do I add Doug to the distro on these?

Hi @Cameron Rentch, friendly reminder for the list of new briefs 🙂

I've been revising/reformatting the first few painstakingly wordy briefs that used the old template. Once they're all done, I'll send one combined email (instead of 4) to everyone with the updated briefs.

CC Kitanovski (ckitanovski@shield-legal.com)
2025-07-01 14:40:01

Hey @Cameron Rentch! Just sent over the last of the three redesigned litigation briefs. All briefs now use the revised template with the most thorough TAM analysis humanly possible.

Wanted to check if there are any new litigation briefs needed? I know you’ve been swamped.

Really enjoying the work and want to make sure I’m always being as useful as possible. If no new briefs are needed, I can: 1) revise the Bard PowerPort brief to include TAM calculations, 2) research historical mass torts to build a predictive framework for identifying future opportunities, or 3) write practice briefs for other active campaigns.

Let me know what would be most valuable, or if there are other things you have in mind. I’m happy to help however/wherever I can 🙂

Hi @Cameron Rentch. Abe had me join a call today with Niko and Kirstine & Tyler from Flatirons. Tyler & Kirstine said they want briefs to include references, tort facts, news reports, and defendant solvency info—all things I've definitely included in all my briefs. They also mentioned turnaround time as a concern and want more detail, better accuracy/verification of details, and faster delivery.

I'm confused about whether they're referring to our briefs/turnaround time or DL's?

Question: Should I send Kirstine & Tyler a sample from the Bard PowerPort brief I've been writing for practice? My gut says it would help to show we can deliver exactly what they want, and fast. But, I don't want to step on anyone's toes or create any extra problems for you. Wanted to ask first.

Also unclear from the call: Does Abe have briefs he wants me to write/rewrite? I emailed him and asked but haven't heard back. Figured you might know if there's anything time-sensitive.

Absolutely, I'll email the SF brief once complete

CC Kitanovski (ckitanovski@shield-legal.com)
2025-07-22 16:04:31

@Cameron Rentch Quick status update on SF: absurdly small incarcerated youth population (one 150-bed facility with ~ 14 kids). Their other 88-bed facility closed in 2018 housing only 11 kids. No recent documented sexual abuse for either facility.

I expanded scope to RTC's, psych hospitals, group homes, etc where SF places kids. There IS documented sexual abuse, but TAM will be complete guesswork (privately run facilities do not publish data).

I'm including alternate facilities & their incidents in the brief. I'll calculate TAM using published data for SF county JDC (similar to Riverside/SAC) to provide worst case scenario. This will be an alarmingly small number. Then, I'll estimate kids in alternative facilities which will increase TAM.

If you have a preference on either method, or would like it done differently, LMK and I'll adjust the final brief.

CC Kitanovski (ckitanovski@shield-legal.com)
2025-07-24 15:59:24

Hey @Cameron Rentch. Just emailed you a draft of SF County. I didn't add in addt'l facilities or underreporting yet.

LMK if I should leave TAM as is or add in placement facilities.

Either way, I will likely add underreporting. But, the additional facilities would need to be decided on first.

Compiled 228 monthly reports and 30 annual reports, built out regression models for whatever I had enough data to build one on. Finishing up the under-reporting adjustment and appendix today. Will email it over when finished!

🙏 Cameron Rentch
CC Kitanovski (ckitanovski@shield-legal.com)
2025-08-06 16:05:23

@Cameron Rentch Sharing since you have a Tesla and this ends with a campaign idea. Tesla will not come to your house for tires (makes sense, they can't mount/balance them) nor do they keep stock of model S plaid tires.

Discount Tire claimed to have them. Aside from being told I have to replace both front tires, a woman dropped and scratched the rim while removing the wheel. Manager says he'll order a new rim from Tesla.

Turns out, they also put the wrong tires on the car because their system does not differentiate between the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s T0 Y (rated up to 186mph, wrong tire they put on my car) and Michelin Pilot Sport 4s T2 (Y) (rated > 186mph, correct tire for the car). The manager literally dug my old tires out of the dumpster while arguing with me, only to discover he was wrong.

Aside from a new rim, they agreed to replace the rear tires for free to correct the experience, as well as find the right tires to put on the front. So, I can drive to work, and I got four new tires for the price of less than two.

The idea: how many people have the WRONG tires on their car due to a system error from Discount Tire and are driving on a tire that is not safe for the car... something to think about!

Cameron Rentch (cameron@internetthings.com)
2025-08-06 16:25:49

Morning @Cameron Rentch. Two things I wanted to run by you...

  1. Ryan scheduled a meeting with me yesterday. This is the list he gave me, wanted to confirm it's OK for me to work on these if/when there are no new briefs to write. LMK if you have a priority preference. • Call Center Modeling for LLM chatbot ◦ No financials ◦ LR Leads plus all billable ◦ Intake Template Q&A ◦ Goal: ▪︎ People ▪︎ Places ▪︎ What ▪︎ Why ▪︎ When ▪︎ How ▪︎ Private to CC & Ryan for now ◦ MediLens usage research validation ◦ Predator usage research validation
  2. I saw pk=4b280a71-0563-441d-a195-ee704a2ef39c&abexpid=nlsubject&abexpvar=a&utmsource=newsletter&utmmedium=email&utmcampaign=classaction&utmcontent=2025-08-19&read_main=1&nlsidx=0&nlaidx=1|this article about Ozempic & Wegovy claims> surviving MDL dismissal. Little late, but is there any interest in me writing a condensed brief on this?
Cameron Rentch (cameron@internetthings.com)
2025-08-19 12:59:14

@CC Kitanovski 1. yes 2. can you help me understand more about the list in item 2? 3) We can wait on Ozempic we did a bunch of acquisition early on but no current interest from firms

CC Kitanovski (ckitanovski@shield-legal.com)
2025-08-19 13:07:02

@Cameron Rentch Sounds good on #1 and #3.

For #2 (task 1 from Ryan), from what I understand, Ryan wants a chatbot built over the call center data so that he can go in and ask it questions that will allow him to answer questions faster than he is currently able to answer them. For example, if you brought a delta in the financials to his attention, he'd be able to investigate it faster. We would also be able to look into causal relationships (ex: which combinations of intake questions result in the most signed claimants for different types of campaigns).

Cameron Rentch (cameron@internetthings.com)
2025-08-19 13:28:45

@CC Kitanovski let's review that request with Joe first. So let's wait on that for the moment? I will schedule a call with you me and Joe to review, there are alot of moving pieces!

I do have another brief to get started: (This is from a competing company)

Sports Betting Addiction: A Public Health Crisis in the Making

Since the 2018 Supreme Court decision legalizing online sports betting across much of the U.S., companies like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and others have exploded in popularity. However, this growth has come at a steep human cost, with a surge in lawsuits alleging predatory tactics that exploit users, leading to addiction, financial devastation, and family breakdowns.

Key allegations include deceptive marketing—such as "risk-free" bets with buried fine print—addictive app interfaces designed like video games to trigger dopamine highs, insufficient safeguards against problem gambling, and aggressive targeting of vulnerable groups via data analytics and promotions. Young adults aged 18-30, often hooked during college through campus tie-ins and easy app access, form the bulk of plaintiffs. Judges are increasingly recognizing parallels to video game addiction, where predatory schemes prey on demographics prone to compulsive behaviors.

We see strong potential here for client criteria focusing on minors or young adults (18-30) exhibiting addiction signs, such as excessive spending—often dipping into family funds or accruing debt they can't afford. Studies show 36.9 million young adults engage in sports betting, and applying a 3.3% addiction rate from similar video game data points to a staggering 1.2 million potential cases. This isn't just about compensation; it's a campaign with a vital awareness angle to prevent others from falling into the trap.

2025-08-19 13:30:03

Hi @Cameron Rentch. Few questions on sports betting

  1. Do we want to limit the sports betting litigation brief to online sports betting only? Online gamblers have the highest rates of addiction, but wanted to ask. There will be some overlap in data analysis, regardless, as the big companies like MGM/BetMGM do a ton of both.
  2. Are we limiting this to claimants 18+? Found several stories about kids using others' apps or pretending to be relatives/parents.
