Hey @Nicholas McFadden! @U02U7GR63T3 is in the channel too. Feel free to send over any questions as they arise
@here Hey team I have a question regarding the ADP connector. After much headache we were able to establish a connection in postman but we are using a .pfx not a .pem for our certificate. This was the required method by ADP because it is linked to our account and allows for the limitation of access to certain information. However, your connector won't allow me to update anything non-.pem. Could you could look into how to make this work?
*Thread Reply:* @Nicholas McFadden - just for clarity, what is the connection you made in Postman?
*Thread Reply:* Made it to access our ADP data. Specifically looking to get Timecard info
*Thread Reply:* Okay so you're calling ADP APIs with Postman. Just curious - how did you use the .pfx certificate in this scenario?
*Thread Reply:* Under settings then certificates and placed our key and pfx file there in two iterations
*Thread Reply:* One with a Host of: accounts.adp.com And the other: api.adp.com
*Thread Reply:* Thanks for sharing this. I will need to do some more research and circle back with you but there could be a way to set up the connector via our REST API as long as you can point to the certificate in a secure and accessible storage location.
*Thread Reply:* We could store it in GCS
*Thread Reply:* Have a look at this. I think it just expects the contents of the certificate and key.
*Thread Reply:* Ok I’ll check it out tomorrow and let you know
*Thread Reply:* I tried posting but wasn't able to get it to work. My code isn't working (not sure I am doing it right). On the other hand, you can't really open up the pfx file to unload its contents. I did it with the pem but never worked.
*Thread Reply:* Could we set a time to try to work through it together?
*Thread Reply:* Hi @Nicholas McFadden - apologies as this week got really really hectic. I've looped in Kate's manager @UUGP0CMQU because Kate is away on vacation for the next few weeks so Megan can help to coordinate some time to work through this next week. Have you made much progress?
*Thread Reply:* Ok thank you! No luck so far.
*Thread Reply:* @Nicholas McFadden - what was the error you were getting when trying to post?
@UUGP0CMQU Thank you for filling in. Can we set a time to troubleshoot the ADP connector?
@Nicholas McFadden It is good to meet you. Unfortunately Monday is very booked. How is Tuesday at 10am, 11am, 1pm or 1:30 PST?
All good. Let's schedule for 10am PST
Okay, I will send an invite to you now. Please feel free to add anyone else from you side who needs to be involved. Thanks and have a great weekend!
@U02U7GR63T3 I deleted out all of the spaces and got the following response back: { "code": "Success", "message": "Connector has been created", "data": { "id": "connectioninduce", "groupid": "handedcater", "service": "adpworkforcenow", "serviceversion": 0, "schema": "testadpworkforcenow", "connectedby": "obituarypolitical", "createdat": "2024-02-13T18:55:36.509846Z", "succeededat": null, "failedat": null, "paused": false, "pauseaftertrial": false, "syncfrequency": 360, "datadelaythreshold": 0, "datadelaysensitivity": "NORMAL", "scheduletype": "auto", "status": { "setupstate": "incomplete", "schemastatus": "ready", "syncstate": "scheduled", "updatestate": "onschedule", "ishistoricalsync": true, "tasks": [], "warnings": [] }, "setuptests": [ { "title": "Connecting to API", "status": "FAILED", "message": "Setup test failed with \"java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke \"org.bouncycastle.util.io.pem.PemObject.getContent()\" because \"pemObject\" is null\"" } ], "config": { "clientid": "d203bb4d-bd7b-4831-843c-c44ebce20527", "clientsecret": "*", "ws_certificate": "", "private_key": "*" } } }
better success than before but still running into an error. Not sure why it would think the pem is null
*Thread Reply:* Yea I'm glad you got past the formatting issue but it's strange how it can't seem to process the certificate contents. Would you be able to create a support ticket via the link on https://support.fivetran.com/hc/en-us?gl=11t0bozrgaMTUyMTYxMzgyNS4xNjc4ODk2MDAxgaNE72Z5F3GB**MTcwNzg1MjY3MS4zNzIuMC4xNzA3ODUyNjczLjU4LjAuMA|this page? You can also access it through the "Support" link in the Fivetran UI.
*Thread Reply:* @here I have tried twice now to submit a request but keep getting an error after submittal. Then it just suggest I contact support but then puts me back in the standard ticket request area again.
*Thread Reply:* @U02U7GR63T3 @UUGP0CMQU ^^
*Thread Reply:* @Nicholas McFadden I will go ahead and create one for you and let them know to contact you.
*Thread Reply:* nickmcfadden@shield-legal.com
*Thread Reply:* @Nicholas McFadden - it looks like Anusha from our support team reached out to you via email based on the support ticket(s) you created. Have you received the mail in your inbox? I guess the error after ticket submission wasn't really an error! Anyhow it seems this has been an issue for other customers as well and we have reached out to ADP for help in resolving the issue. She has also encouraged you to contact your ADP rep as well.
*Thread Reply:* @U02U7GR63T3 Glad to hear this is something you guys have already handled. I'll reach out to my rep but who are you guys contacting so maybe we can have a focused effort? Anything you suggest I pass along to the rep?
*Thread Reply:* Shot my rep a message. I will let you know what they come back with. Please let me know if there is any progress on your end
@here on a side note when creating a new connector, is there an expected wait time for it to establish? I have tried building a revised version of the custom function. I can make the connection and test it fine but no data is actually flowing and I am not getting an error.
*Thread Reply:* @Nicholas McFadden -- Is this still the case? It looks like both of your Cloud Functions are active and syncing data.
@Nicholas McFadden - I wanted to bring up an option for direct, 1:1 support from a technical resource for the remainder of the year. We have a technical services team (Vilas' counterpart for our customers) that could be a really good option for you as you work to build out your pipelines
Applicable Shield Legal Use Cases: • New to Fivetran • Application connectors • Basics of transformation - dbt core and project setup, build and run a basic model • Monitoring and optimizing data pipelines • 1:1 assistance in building data pipelines (they can't build functions for you, but can advise) Our services offerings come in a variety of packages, but here are the two I think are most applicable to Shield Legal: 6 hours: $2000 15hours: $5250
It's a simple order form to sign then you'll be connected with a Solutions Analyst.
What are your thoughts here? Happy to hop on a call to discuss.
Oh shoot I was supposed to use the ticketing service my apologies. Just getting back into the office, I was out with Covid last week
No worries - I hope you feel better! You're always welcome to use Support, they are a great resource. I just wanted to provide another option for you (1:1, same resource). Our services team won't replace support, they work in tandem and complement one another.
